As the title said, I saw some excellent movies this year - the majority worth seeing! Here's what I've seen since my last entry (not counting Terminator Salvation - I was expecting more)...
1. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen -
2. Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs - Good to see what happens when our Ice Age animals wind up in a land with dinosaurs - found many amusing moments, especially the interaction of Scrat and Scratte, loved the Baby T-Rex triplets, and I gotta salute Simon Pegg's (Nicholas Angel from Hot Fuzz) performance as Buck!
3. G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra - an interesting adaption of the famous toyline - like ROTF it's got action - though I was hoping I'd get the soundtrack until I found it only had the score. But still, it's also a good film in a way.
4. Red Cliff - An awesome Chinese film based on the Romance of the Three Kingdoms! Despite having shortened for the Western audience, it was quite a spectacular movie - especially some of the fight scenes and the tactics shown, along with the romance!
5. Up - Pixar's latest film - funny and adventurous, it shows that no matter the age, you're never too old to make your dreams come true!
6. Inglourious Basterds - Violent but awesome - not exactly how Hitler died but showed some some colourful characters! It was the third film I saw in Gold Class cinemas and my present to a high school friend of mine (which would make it his first time seeing in Gold Class). I especially found Chistoph Waltz's performance as Standartenführer Hans Landa aka "The Jew Hunter" to be quite extraordinary - if not for the fact he was a sinister figure he would have been the guy you would want to have a good social chat while having tea, and thanks to him, I've developed a liking to strudel now!
7. Mao's Last Dancer - An emotional re-enactment and biography of Li Cunxin, and how he became a famed ballet dancer of Beijing Dance Academy and Ben Stevenson's Houston Ballet! Though I was slightly hesistant because I was thinking of reading my sister's book (but my aunt borrowed it to have a read), it was a lovely film! My mum loved it since she lived in the troublesome times of Communist China when she was a girl before our family first arrived in Australia. Maybe I shall read the book after Aunt Suelyn's done with it.
Well, I guess that shall be it for now. If there are any films in the list that you enjoyed, feel free to comment!
