Lebanon Whisper

This is one of my three final pieces to display for 2011, and also to demonstrate what the photography of my recently acquired Nintendo 3DS is like. To be frank, I prefer the camera I used before, even though I didn't use the 3D feature, as you could see why, even with editing.

Funny that I was introduced sometime ago to Lebanese food via an Australian comedy TV Series called 'Pizza', in which one of the characters involves a Lebanese rapper called 'Sleek the Elite'. In fact, this comedy show is what piped my later interest in the food, which is why I made this!

Made by one Nouha Taouk, I cooked up Yakn't, which is a Lamb shank and potato casserole, served with a side of Rooz il falfal (Boiled rice with egg noodles) some Fridays ago. Cooking the casserole first, I then served up the rice, which made it the first time I used a saucepan to cook the latter other than the rice cooker due to instructions. After making and eating it, I found it was milder than expected, as I usually enjoyed eating foods that had quite a lot of flavour. But nevertheless, this was an interesting change.

Maybe I'll see how I'll go with later Lebanese recipes in the future to come. But for now, there's a lot of leftover food from today's Christmas party worth devouring, which is enough to last for a week or more. Until then, if you want to try, see how you'll go - I believe it'll be worth it!
