3rd YS Cybertron's Greatest Hero by Blackvegetable 3rd YS Cybertron's Greatest Hero by Blackvegetable
"Freedom is the right of all sentient beings."

At last, it is done! I never thought I'd say this, but who would have thought this would become reality!

As the title says, it's not just to celebrate my third year at Deviantart, it is a dedication to Planet Cybertron's Greatest Hero, none other than Optimus Prime himself! To celebrate the twenty-five glorious years Transformers brought to our lives as fanboys and fangirls, along with the upcoming film Revenge of the Fallen, I thought I'd do a special tribute (though it does not transform)! Originally I was going to do the Dinobots, unfortunately some of the folds in a book I found proved to be quite difficult.

This is originally a container truck fold by Duy Nguyen, except I gave it some heavy modifications to make it the 1980s Freightliner cab-over truck form recognisable to all. It may not look like an origami fold at first, because of the exterior decorations added to make it accurate or so. Let's just say that the whole process involved a lot of cutting, gluing, and folding - especially to cut off certain pieces to make the right parts fit as possible and getting the wheels up to scale. Examples include adding parts like the lights, smokestacks, front grill, windows, panelling and even the signature Autobot insignias. The cab and trailer are seperate pieces, by the way. I can't really calculate exactly how long this project took me without other activities, but what I do know is this; it took almost a week to finish and add the final touches!

All in all, it would be of intermediate class, and through all that hard work, it was worth it! I am very pleased that I was able to build it to the very end, so I am proud to show you the fruits of origami labour completed! I would also like to thank Mr. Peter Cullen for voicing one of the greatest icons in Transformer history! As with my previous Transformer-based origami/papercraft deviation (this is the second), for all you Transformers fans, especially Autobot fans, this is for you!

AUTOBOTS, TRANSFORM AND ROLL OUT!

Great model.
Do you have a template for it?

'Origami on the move: cars, trucks, ships, planes & more' by Duy Nguyen. Although it's a modification of the Container Truck fold, if you want, you can give it a try!

Thanks again! :)

i wished i had noticed this sooner. that is truely badass! i really need to look through the rest of your origami stuff. this is all very cool.
i've attempted that sad little bumblebee hako (and a couple of others) but yours are WAY more complex. this is really cool!

While not completely origami (considering there was a lot of pieces to modify, hence more of a papercraft), as I mentioned, it was originally a container truck - but this was a result when I couldn't find a good cab-over truck form. Nevertheless, I'm proud of this creation, and doubly proud of your comment too! :D

For commenting on one of my pieces for the first time, I thank you very much! There's other projects if you're interested! :)

And like we discussed via notes, best of luck with whatever you got planned! :D It'll be good if the plans are remembered too!
